Elizabeth A. McMorrow has been an attorney since 1992 and is licensed to practice in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C.  She holds a B.A. in Economics from The College of William and Mary, a J.D. cum laude from Wake Forest University School of Law, and an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law.

Elizabeth has a unique combination of international experience providing legal advice and management on international subsidiaries’ legal issues, international tax, and international trade as in-house counsel at The Coca-Cola Company and Genzyme Corporation, a member of the Markit|CTI legal advisory team, a Senior Associate with Dewey Ballantine, and a clerk at the U.S. Court of International Trade.

Elizabeth’s experience includes the following:

 

  • Advising on tax including the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs), UK Crown Dependencies & Overseas Territories (UK FATCA / CDOT), and OECD Common Reporting Standard (CRS)

 

  • Undertaking IRS, CDOT, and IGA multi-jurisdictional reporting including submitting reporting through IRS IDES, Cayman Islands and other jurisdictions’ portals / paper processes

  • Creating the international legal operations function overseeing provision of legal services to 51 foreign operations across 40 countries for a US$1B biotech company

  • Acting as a generalist across foreign subsidiaries' legal issues

  • Managing outside counsel in the US and abroad

  • Developing policies and procedures, compliance programs and compliance training

  • Directing multiple-country litigation/investigations

  • Participating in litigation before federal and state agencies and courts

  • Advising on market access in Japan; legislative trade policy; U.S., E.U., and Japanese competition policy systems; U.S. trade remedy laws such as antidumping and Section 301; and customs law
